EVERY THURSDAY FROM 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Our flagship, private, 3-hour class: PizzaYOLO teaches you how to make Vera Pizza Napoletana while sampling a variety of Italian wines. Tickets available online here
We invite you to come and learn the ins and outs of what makes our pizza truly the most unique pizza in Detroit. We teach you how to get that beautiful char-freckled crust and the perfect ratio of cheese saturation and light-airy dough. A true testament to what makes us Vera Pizza Napoletana, our authentic Italian kitchen brings you a little slice of Naples here to Southwest Detroit, and all the way back to your kitchen as you will have the opportunity to take the dough you prepare in class home with you.

NEAPOLITAN SOSPESO CULTURE IN SOUTHWEST, DETROIT
PizzaPlex is a pizzeria in Southwest Detroit serving authentic Neapolitan pizza - which means our style of pizza has been perfected over hundreds of years. Every pizza is prepared from scratch with only the freshest ingredients, and proudly cooked by hand in a wood-fire oven.
Along with this delicious tradition, PizzaPlex’s mission is to bring quality food at affordable prices for all, and strives to make it free for those who may not be able to afford it - through our Sospeso program. “Sospeso”, Italian for “pending,” is another Neapolitan tradition that PizzaPlex wishes to share with its community. It is a pay-it-forward system in which customers buy “pending” food items for anyone else to claim, no questions asked.
To ramp up this initiative, PizzaPlex has formed the Sospeso Collective, composed so far of 5 member organizations. These are some of Detroit’s most impactful nonprofits doing the work to feed, clothe, house those in need, and help educate Detroit’s youth.

DETROIT FRIENDSHIP HOUSE
Detroit Friendship House strengthens families through community connections and offering help with basic human needs. Food, clothing, providing the tools to achieve self-sufficiency.
Sospeso Goal: 40 Pizza Kits Weekly
CAPUCHIN SOUP KITCHEN
Capuchin Soup Kitchen tends to people's basic needs, especially the need for food. They also work to address root causes of social injustice.
Sospeso Goal: 80 Pizzas and 40 Pizza Kits Weekly.
FSP, OPEN DOOR MINISTRY
Open Door Ministry provides clothing, a shower, food, and social service assitance for any neighbors in need.
Sospeso Goal: 10 Pizzas and 5 Pizza Kits Weekly
SOUTH OAKLAND FOOD DEPOT
The people of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton provide non-perishable food to neighbors in need through the South Oakland Food Depot.

DOWNTOWN BOXING GYM
Through education, athletics, mentorship, and intervention, the Downtown Boxing Gym empowers Detroit students to be positive and productive members of society.
Sospeso Goal: 90 Pizzas Weekly
To support with a one time donation, just hit the button above, select which organization(s) you wish to support (selecting multiple is highly encouraged!), and add the Sospeso pizzas and pizza kits to your cart! Simply checkout and select “pickup” for any time – or continue shopping for your own personal pizza order and enter your pickup/delivery preference - PizzaPlex will keep tabs of donations and prepare them for the organizations' weekly pre-established times.

Our “Piece of the Pie” program is a special deal we are happy to offer to nonprofit organizations. By choosing PizzaPlex for your next event (dine-in or take-out), we will set up a 4-day fundraiser window for you here on pizzaplex.com, and create a digital flyer for you to share with your supporters, who can then easily contribute towards food and drinks for your event.
PizzaPlex will contribute too, by donating 20% of total sales back to your organization! That's your Piece of the Pie.

Founded in 2017 by husband and wife duo, Alessandra Carreon and Drew McUsic, PizzaPlex is Detroit’s first and only pizzeria certified to serve traditional Naples-style pizza, known officially as Vera Pizza Napoletana. Drawing on inspiration from her mom's hometown and where Alessandra spent part of her childhood, the team has quickly garnered recognition as one of the top destinations for pizza in the Motor City.
PizzaPlex is as much a community-oriented social enterprise as it is a pizzeria: the team is passionate about partnering with and supporting various nonprofits across Detroit. PizzaPlex also offers a pay-it-forward pizza program that gives homage to Neapolitan "sospeso" culture. We let customers “buy sospeso,” which literally means to “suspend” your order, and anyone can redeem any pre-purchased “sospeso” item – no questions asked!
